Topic Choice

My topic choice could be titled Fashion Trends. However, in depth, it is the study of fashion trends and how to predict future trends. I chose this topic because this is something that I already have some knowledge about. I am very interested in fashion and predicting trends is a huge factor in that. I plan to go to school to become a designer after high school and I know one of the most important things I'm going to need to know, in order to succeed, is knowing what is coming up next. In order to be "ahead of the game", I need to be one step ahead of everyone. So, basically, I chose this topic because I know learning this will help me succeed as an adult in the fashion industry; Whether I become a designer or editor of a magazine.

After studying this topic all year, I really hope to accomplish a better sense of how a trend starts and why it is chosen to be brought into the fashion world at that time. Also, I hope to develop a stronger eye for what's next. (as in, the next IT thing) Mostly, I hope to accomplish a knowledge that I will carry with me into college that will help me succeed as a designer.

  1. I don't know what your plans are, but I would encourage you to go to a four year university on this. We've had some students go only to trade school, and the field is so competitive that they aren't able to find a position.

What are you going to do specifically to help you toward your goal this year? How will your senior project help you in that? This will help keep you motivated when things get stressful this year.

  2. This year I will be working on my design portfolio. Also, I have my business with Gabrielle Murphy which we intend to put into our college applications. I feel that my senior project will help me because I will be learning ALOT about fashion and how it's changed and revolutionized over these passed hundreds of years.
